BAPTISM OF CHILDREN IN THE ECUMENICAL PARISH OF YATE NEW TOWN.
St Mary's, Yate; St Nicks, Abbotswood; St Peter's, Wapley; St James's, Westerleigh.
You can arrange baptism of your child at St.
Mary's, or any of the churches in the Parish.

Bookings at St. Mary's are taken on the first
Sunday of the month, after the Early Bird
service (please see our home-page for
service times) which parents are expected to
attend. You can download a booking form
below, however you must bring it personally to
St. Mary’s during a booking time. We regret
that we cannot accept forms by post or e-mail.

Baptism Services are held on the first and
third Sundays of the month at 12:30
.

Before Baptism takes place, a Preparation
Session will be held. You will be advised of
the date and place when you come to book.

The sessions are normally held at 8:00 pm at
St. Nicholas' Church, Abbotswood. Here you
will finalise the arrangements and share the
meaning and responsibilities of the Baptism
of Children. Parents are expected to attend
and Godparents living locally are
recommended to. The sessions last only one
hour. Please note your preparation date
carefully and make every effort to be present

Baptism until we have met the parents for a time
of preparation. If this is difficult, please contact us
so that alternative arrangements can be

Meanwhile, you are welcome and encouraged to
attend regularly with your child, St. Mary's or one
off the other churches in the Parish, so that your
child may grow to understand what Baptism
means.
